2026 Eid al-Adha Holiday Schedule Announced: Is May 29 Communal Leave?
The government, through the isbat meeting held at the end of Dhu al-Qi’dah yesterday, officially confirmed that 1 Dhu al-Hijjah falls on Monday, 18 May 2026. This means Eid al-Adha, which coincides with 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, will occur on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
Like previous years, the 2026 holiday schedule is regulated by the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of Three Ministers. For 2026, the applicable decree is SKB No. 1497, 2, and 5 of 2025.
The 2026 SKB outlines national holidays and communal leave days for the year. This regulation serves as a guideline for the public, whether in the private or government sector.
According to the aforementioned SKB, Eid al-Adha 1447 AH is allocated one national holiday, falling on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
In addition to the national holiday, Eid al-Adha also has one day of communal leave on Thursday, 28 May 2026. For clarity, the holiday schedule is as follows:

Is May 29, 2026, a communal leave for Eid al-Adha?

Unfortunately, according to the applicable 2026 SKB, May 29 is neither communal leave nor a national holiday. This means the public must resume normal activities.
Potential 2026 Eid al-Adha Long Weekend
As briefly mentioned, Eid al-Adha has only one national holiday and one communal leave day, so no long weekend is formed.
