2026 Bedug Festival in West Jakarta Enlivened by Multiple Teams
Jakarta (ANTARA) – A total of 16 teams from eight sub-districts enlivened the 2026 Bedug Festival at the South Parking area of the West Jakarta Mayor’s office in Kembangan, on Tuesday.
The teams represent various traditional musical arts, such as Sufi dance, gambus, hadroh, and others.
The Assistant for People’s Welfare of West Jakarta City, Amien Haji, said that the Bedug Festival is not just a competition, but also part of the commitment to fulfil and realise the grand vision of Jakarta as a cultured global city.
“Jakarta is not only a centre of government and economy, but also a centre of civilisation that upholds cultural values, traditions, and local wisdom,” said Amien in Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Amien said that the Bedug Festival is an effort to preserve cultural heritage while strengthening the identity of West Jakarta.
“Religious, harmonious, and rich in cultural and artistic expression,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Culture Sub-department, Tonny Bako, said that the 2026 West Jakarta Bedug Festival was participated in by 16 teams from eight sub-districts.
“The participants in the Bedug Festival are from eight sub-districts in West Jakarta. Each sub-district sends two representative teams. So, the total number of participants is 16 teams,” he said.
Tonny explained that the first, second, and third place winners, as well as the first and second runners-up, will be selected and will receive prize money from the West Jakarta Culture Sub-department.
“The winners will receive trophies and prize money. The first, second, and third place winners will be included in the 2026 Provincial Level Bedug Festival, as the official representatives of the West Jakarta Administrative City,” he concluded.
