JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled to be
the keynote speaker during the first part of the 2002
International Seminar Series from April 25 through April 26 in
Jakarta.
The organizing committee said in a statement on Monday that
besides Megawati, former Australian prime minister Paul Keating
was also due to speak at the seminar, which is aimed at improving
Indonesia's country risk rating.
An improvement in the country's risk rating would in turn help
revive the real and the services sector, thereby creating more
job opportunities.
No details as to what the contents of Megawati's speech would
be were available, while Paul Keating is due to speak on regional
economic integration, and the future and role of Indonesia in
both the world economic order and foreign affairs.
Representatives of international institutions, including
Moody's Investor Service of the U.S. and the World Market
Research Center of England, have also agreed to take part,
according to the statement.
The seminar will also be attended by guests from the World
Bank, Asian Development Bank, foreign embassies, and foreign and
local businesspeople. -- Antara
