200 Students in Surabaya Poisoned After Eating Free Nutritious Meal, SPPG Recalls Food
The head of Tembok Dukuh Health Centre in Surabaya, Tyas Pranadani, suspects that hundreds of students were poisoned by a meat-based dish. Her team has coordinated with SPPG to recall the food. “SPPG recalled all the food earlier. So, all the food that hasn’t been consumed has been pulled,” she told reporters at the Ibu dan Anak IBI Hospital in Surabaya. Tyas stated that SPPG has promised to take responsibility, including financing the medical treatment for the poisoned students. Samples of the MBG menu have also been taken to the Health Laboratory Centre (BLK). “Then, SPPG has committed to funding all the treatment for the students. We will also conduct an investigation regarding this food through the BBLK,” she explained. Hundreds of students from more than a dozen schools in the Tembok Dukuh area of Surabaya were poisoned after eating the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG). Students complained of headaches and nausea, leading to them being rushed to health centres and hospitals.
