Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Police District (Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat) deployed around 200 joint personnel to assist in evacuating residents affected by a fire in the densely populated RW 04 area of Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
Central Jakarta Police District Chief Kombes Pol Reynold Hutagalung stated that personnel from the police, TNI, local government, and Brimob were deployed to rescue residents, secure salvageable belongings, and support firefighting efforts.
“Currently, police, TNI, and local government officials are on-site, particularly from Polres Jakarta Pusat, Polda Metro, and Brimob teams, with approximately 200 personnel assisting in evacuations,” Reynold said at the scene early Tuesday.
In addition to evacuation efforts, officers have implemented traffic management and closed several road access points to allow fire trucks and ambulances to move more quickly.
According to Reynold, the affected area is a densely populated residential zone with an estimated 400 to 500 households, as per information from the local RW office.
“This area in RW 04, Kebon Kosong Village, is indeed densely populated; we spoke with the RW head who confirmed around 400 to 500 households,” he said.
As a result of the fire, six residents experienced shortness of breath due to heavy smoke exposure. All victims have been evacuated and received medical treatment at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital.
“There are currently six individuals suffering from smoke inhalation who have been taken to Hermina Kemayoran Hospital for treatment,” Reynold said.
He expressed hope that the victims’ conditions would not worsen and that medical handling would proceed optimally through coordination with the Health Department and related agencies.
Firefighters are still extinguishing and cooling the fire site, while the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
