20 Workers and One Waste Container Deployed During Karangasem Festival
A total of 20 sanitation workers and one waste container have been on standby daily at Taman Candra Bhuana, Karangasem, since Friday (19/6/2026) until Monday (22/6/2026). The effort is being made to maintain cleanliness during the Karangasem Festival, part of the 386th Anniversary of Amlapura City.
The Head of Waste Management at the Karangasem Environmental Agency (DLH), I Made Yusta Dwi Mertha, said the 20 sanitation workers would be divided into two shifts, morning and night. This means 10 workers will be on standby per shift to clean the event location.
“We have prepared sanitation workers complete with their schedules to be assigned during the Amlapura City anniversary celebrations,” Yusta said on Friday (19/6/2026).
This is being done to prevent piles of rubbish at the event site. Considering that the public coming to enjoy the culinary offerings and entertainment during the exhibition is likely to be as crowded as in previous years, the volume of waste is also expected to increase.
Every trader selling at the exhibition site has also been provided with rubbish bins, one each for organic and plastic waste. The provision of these bins is expected to make it easier for workers during collection. The visiting public is also expected to dispose of rubbish in the designated places.
“Hopefully with this method, there will be no piles of rubbish during this year’s Amlapura City anniversary celebrations,” said Yusta.
For context, there are many activities during the Karangasem Festival and the 386th Amlapura City Anniversary, ranging from cultural parades, competitions, culinary events, entertainment, and more. Visitors are estimated to reach thousands per day. This is predicted to automatically generate piles of rubbish.
