As many as 20 high-achieving students were highlighted at the 48th graduation of the PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN), held at Sasana Kriya TMII, Jakarta, on Thursday, 21 May. The ceremony also marked the farewell of 424 prospective graduates who will join more than 12,000 ITPLN alumni across Indonesia.

Chairman of the PLN Education and Welfare Foundation (YPK PLN), Supriyadi, said that ITPLN graduates now bear a heavy responsibility as part of an institution that carries PLN’s name as one of the national strategic state-owned enterprises.

“This graduation moment should become mental preparation to be more optimistic in pursuing aspirations and hopes for the future,” Supriyadi said in a statement, Friday 22 May.

He emphasised that ITPLN graduates not only carry an academic degree, but also bear the mandate to safeguard the good name of their family, alma mater, and national identity.

“ITPLN graduates carry the PLN name within them. That is something to be proud of, but also a responsibility,” he added.

According to Supriyadi, YPK PLN, as the foundation tasked by PT PLN (Persero) with running ITPLN’s education, will continue to push the campus to produce leaders for the national energy transition. He said the energy issue will be a global challenge in the future, so ITPLN must be able to produce superior human resources in the fields of technology and energy.

“We want ITPLN to be a leader in the energy transition, because energy is the global issue of the future,” he stated.

During the event, Supriyadi also expressed appreciation to all lecturers, deans, and campus leaders, as well as to families who have educated the students to completion.

Meanwhile, ITPLN Rector Prof. Iwa Garniwa Mulyana underscored that this year’s top graduates not only excel academically but also possess integrity and adaptability in the energy and technology fields.

“The achievements of the graduates prove that ITPLN does not only produce job-ready graduates, but also individuals who excel, innovate, and make a tangible contribution to society and the national energy industry,” said Iwa.

An emotional atmosphere coloured the graduation ceremony as Prof Iwa Garniwa invited all graduates to stand and look at their parents in attendance.

“They are the reason you can stand here today,” he said.

This year’s ITPLN 48th graduation conferred bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, professional engineer qualifications, and diploma certificates from various study programmes projected to enter the national energy and technology industries.
