20 men rounded up over tower theft
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A top police officer here said on Thursday that his men had nabbed members of a syndicate behind the theft of eight electricity towers two weeks ago that caused a blackout in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan provinces.
Brig. Gen. Soedibyo, the chief of South Kalimantan Police, disclosed that the well-organized syndicate comprised of some 20 men, some of whom came from outside South Kalimantan.
The 20 men performed various roles in the syndicate. Some executed the tower theft in Tanah Laut area in South Kalimantan, while others sought clients to sell the iron poles to. -- Antara
