ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (AFP): Twenty Indonesians were held by the military after they were caught sneaking into the southern Philippines in a motorboat full of contraband, a military spokesman said on Saturday.
Colonel Hilario Atendido said the Indonesians and a Filipino were apprehended by soldiers on Samal island off the city of Davao on Friday.
Found aboard the boat were supplies of oil and boxes of Rinso, a detergent banned in the Philippines.
The 21 were turned over to the coastguard, Atendido said, adding that criminal charges would be filed against them. He did not give the identities of those arrested.
