Jakarta - A total of 20,500 runners enlivened the first day of the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (BTN JAKIM) 2026, which featured the 5K and 10K categories in Jakarta on Saturday. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung expressed appreciation for the smooth running of the first day. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to the good cooperation between the TNI, Polri, the orange troops, and the troops owned by DKI Jakarta, the roads were clean, the execution was orderly, and alhamdulillah everyone was happy,” said Pramono in Jakarta on Saturday. He stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports this event and is optimistic that the second day’s implementation for the Half Marathon and Marathon categories on Sunday (14/6) will be even better. He is even targeting a larger and more organised scale for the 500th anniversary of Jakarta City next year. Meanwhile, President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, Nixon LP Napitupulu, revealed that the favourable weather and high public enthusiasm were crucial factors in the success of the first day of BTN JAKIM 2026. Nixon assessed that the high level of public participation in a large-scale sporting event like this can create a positive domino effect for Jakarta’s economy. Based on projections by Indonesia Muda Road Runner as the Race Organiser, the economic turnover from BTN JAKIM 2026 is targeted to reach Rp225 billion, a significant jump compared to last year’s estimate of Rp155 billion. Overall, BTN JAKIM 2026 is being participated in by a total of 45,500 runners, including 1,012 international runners from 52 countries, with the highest participation coming from Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea. On the first day, 5,500 participants competed in the 5K category and 15,000 participants in the 10K category. In the National Men’s 5K category, first place was won by Pandu Sukarya, followed by Yad Hapizudin and Marselino Varelian Fallo. In the Women’s 5K sector, the podium was occupied by Marhaendrassiwi, Azizah Khusnul Qotimah, and Alicia Chantiqa. Meanwhile, in the Men’s 10K category, the top three positions were achieved by Rikki Marthin, Immanuel, and Arif Hidayatullah, while the Women’s 10K category was won by Agustina Mardika, followed by Irma Handayani and Farah Aurellia. Entering the second day on Sunday (14/6), BTN JAKIM 2026 will hold the main categories, namely the Half Marathon with 16,400 runners and the Marathon with 8,600 runners. Participants are scheduled to pass a number of capital city icons, with the start point in the National Monument (Monas) area and the finish line at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK). To ensure the smooth running and safety of participants, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, together with Polda Metro Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, will implement traffic engineering on a number of city roads. The public is urged to anticipate their journeys and use alternative routes throughout the race.
