The creative industries and lifestyle fashion exhibition Brightspot is being held again as brightspotCITY at Agora Mall in Central Jakarta from 27-31 May and 4-7 June 2026. The event serves as a platform for numerous local and international brands to showcase their premier fashion products. Among the various categories on offer, upcycled material and experimental design handbag collections have attracted considerable attention, such as those from BYO and Freitag. For instance, BYO’s classic Alchemy range is assembled using modular textile locks made from PVC material. The bags are constructed without any stitching or glue, resulting in a distinctive design. Upon close inspection, the pattern consists of interlocking triangles, but viewed from a distance, they resemble flowers or butterflies, according to founder Tommy Ambiyo Tedji. In addition to the existing popular Alchemy collection, BYO has also launched a new Echo Bag line coinciding with the exhibition. The Echo Bag features a minimalist luxury shoulder bag silhouette, designed for ease of use with a practical magnetic closure instead of a zip, and a fully genuine leather lining. Pricing varies by product and collection. Alchemy starts at Rp 1 million, while Echo Bag begins at Rp 3.9 million. A compact tech shoulder bag priced from Rp 499,000 is also available, designed to snugly accommodate mobile devices.
