2 nursing students bodies recovered

PADANG, West Sumatra: The search for the victims of a boating accident in Muara Anai river here was put to an end on Tuesday, as the bodies of the last two missing students were recovered from the river.

They were identified as Junaidah Kada, 21 and Zul Hendra, 21 bringing the official death to nine.

Junaidah's body was found some eight kilometers down river from the site of the accident in Central Koto subdistrict.

The body of Zul Hendra was found on the river's edge about a kilometer from the spot where the party's small fishing boat capsized.

The accident occurred on Sunday, when 12 students from a nursing academy in Padang hired the boat from a local fisherman Ujang, 35, for recreation along the rain-swollen river, located near the Lubuk Buaya estuary in Central Koto subdistrict.

But after cruising around for about 30 minutes, the boat capsized. The students reportedly planned to go the nearby White Sand Beach resort. The boat was believed to be overloaded.

Three people survived, including the boat's helmsman, Adrizal. -- JP
