2 Latest Facts on Floods Submerging 31 RT in Jakarta on 1 May 2026
Heavy rain lashed Jakarta on Thursday night, resulting in flooding that submerged several areas of the city in the early hours of Friday.
“Heavy rain that struck the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Thursday, 30 April 2026, caused several puddles in the DKI Jakarta region,” stated a release from the DKI Jakarta BPBD on Friday (1/5/2026).
- 31 RT in DKI Flooded on Friday Morning
At 08:00 WIB this morning, the DKI BPBD recorded 31 RT in Jakarta submerged by floods due to last night’s heavy rain. The highest water level reached 130 cm.
Of the 31 flooded RT, 11 were in the South Jakarta area. Meanwhile, 20 RT in East Jakarta were submerged. Here are the details:
11 RT in South Jakarta, flood height 20 to 130 cm:
Pondok Labu Ward: 1 RT
Cipulir Ward: 1 RT
Pondok Pinang Ward: 8 RT
North Kebayoran Lama Ward: 1 RT
Causes: High rainfall, overflow of the Ciliwung River, overflow of the Pesanggrahan River, and overflow of the Krukut River.
20 RT in East Jakarta, flood height 40 to 70 cm:
Bidara Cina Ward: 2 RT
Kampung Melayu Ward: 8 RT
Balekambang Ward: 2 RT
Cawang Ward: 7 RT
Cililitan Ward: 1 RT
Causes: High rainfall and overflow of the Ciliwung River.
The DKI Jakarta BPBD has deployed personnel to monitor puddles in every area and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Transportation Agency to carry out puddle pumping.

On Friday afternoon, the floods began to recede slowly in several points. The DKI Jakarta BPBD recorded that currently, 17 RT and one road segment remain affected by flooding.
Head of the Data and Information Centre (Kapusdatin) of DKI Jakarta BPBD, Muhammad Yohan, said the puddles were spread across West Jakarta and South Jakarta with varying water levels.
“The BPBD records that currently, puddles are occurring in 17 RT and one road. Water levels range from 30 to 120 cm,” said Yohan in his statement on Friday (1/5/2026).
In West Jakarta, puddles occurred in 7 RT spread across Kedoya Selatan Ward with 5 RT and Kembangan Selatan Ward with 2 RT. Water levels in this area ranged from 30 to 50 cm.
Meanwhile, in South Jakarta, there were 10 RT affected by flooding. Details: 1 RT in Cipulir Ward, 8 RT in Pondok Pinang Ward, and 1 RT in North Kebayoran Lama Ward. Water levels in this area reached 30 to 120 cm.
“Puddles occurred due to high rainfall as well as overflows from the Pesanggrahan River, Angke River, and Krukut River,” he said.
In addition to residential areas, one road segment was also observed to be flooded, namely Jalan Puri Kembangan, right in front of Budi Murni School, Kedoya Selatan Ward, West Jakarta, with a water level of about 20 cm.
The DKI Jakarta BPBD also recorded several areas that were previously flooded but have now receded. These include Cilandak Barat Ward, Cipedak, East Pejaten, Pondok Labu, Bintaro, Bidara Cina, Kampung Melayu, Balekambang, Cawang, to Cililitan.
Yohan stated that they have deployed personnel to monitor conditions in the field while carrying out puddle handling together with related agencies.
“The BPBD deploys personnel to monitor puddle conditions and coordinates with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Transportation Agency to carry out water pumping and ensure drainage functions optimally,” he explained.
In addition, the BPBD together with regional apparatus is preparing basic needs for affected residents. Puddles are targeted to recede quickly.
The DKI Jakarta BPBD urges the public to remain alert to the potential for puddles and to be careful when carrying out activities. In emergency conditions, residents are asked to immediately contact the 112 emergency service, which operates 24 hours.
