2 bodies found from boat crash

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Two of six passengers missing from a boat collision on the Barito river on Tuesday have been found dead, police said on Thursday.

Deputy chief of South Kalimantan Marine Police Adj. Comr. Kasmolan said that the two bodies found on Thursday morning were of Manahan and Herry.

He said that three of the nine people on board the motorized boat were rescued when the boat struck an anchored tug boat on Tuesday night.

The accident took place 200 meters from Trisakti port in Banjarmasin.

"It has been the worst water accident this year," he said, adding that all the passengers on board the boat worked for a coal exporting company.

He said search and rescue efforts were continuing. (32)
