JAKARTA - A total of 2,780 employees from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) were recorded as absent without explanation on the first working day after the Eid al-Fitr holiday, Wednesday (25/3/2026). This disciplinary violation could result in a 3% deduction from their performance allowances (tukin) per day. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, stated that the deduction applies to employees who fail to record their attendance when arriving or leaving work. “So, there will be a 3% per day deduction from the performance allowance for employees who do not record attendance upon arrival or departure,” said Gus Ipul, when met on Wednesday (25/3/2026). In addition to the tukin deduction, Kemensos will provide guidance to the violating employees. All staff absent without explanation are required to attend a disciplinary briefing on Thursday (26/3/2026) at 10:00 WIB, either online or in person. Employees residing in Jakarta are asked to attend directly at the Kemensos office on Jalan Salemba Raya. Meanwhile, employees in the regions can join the briefing virtually from their respective areas. Based on Kemensos data, the total number of employees is 46,090. Of this number, 33,683 employees work under the work from office (WFO) scheme and 5,071 employees follow the work from anywhere (WFA) scheme. Additionally, 34,284 employees operate under a flexible work pattern according to field duties, while 344 employees are on leave or sick. Absence without explanation is considered a violation of civil servant (ASN) discipline. Gus Ipul emphasised that this step also serves as a lesson for all employees to be more disciplined, given that Kemensos has an app-based monitoring system to track employee attendance.
