2,614 Hajj pilgrims from Riau have departed for the Holy Land
Pekanbaru - The Riau Provincial Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah records that 2,614 prospective Hajj pilgrims from the region have been dispatched to the Holy Land, grouped into six klotters via the Batam embarkation point in the Riau Islands.
The Head of the Riau Provincial Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Defizon, stated that the dispatch process for Hajj pilgrims has run smoothly up to Thursday (30 April). However, some prospective pilgrims experienced delays in departure due to health and administrative reasons.
“Overall, up to 30 April 2026, the number of Riau Hajj pilgrims dispatched totals 2,614 pilgrims, 12 regional Hajj officers, three KBIHU guides, and 24 Hajj staff, making a total of 2,653 people,” said Defizon in a statement received in Pekanbaru on Friday.
For Kloter BTH 4, 440 people were dispatched, consisting of 434 pilgrims, two PHD (regional Hajj officers), and four kloter staff. Three pilgrims from Pekanbaru along with two companions were delayed in their departure as they are receiving treatment in Batam.
Next, Kloter BTH 5 dispatched 438 people, consisting of 431 pilgrims, two PHD, one KBIHU guide, and four kloter staff. Three pilgrims along with three companions from Kampar were delayed in their departure as they are receiving treatment in Batam, while another pilgrim is ill in their home area.
For Kloter BTH 6, 399 people were dispatched, consisting of 393 pilgrims, two PHD, and four kloter staff. Three pilgrims cancelled their departure, two of whom are from Rokan Hilir.
“In addition, there was a transfer of 45 pilgrims to Kloter BTH 7, most from the Meranti Islands, as well as two pilgrims transferred in from Kloter BTH 4 from Pekanbaru,” he said.
Then, Kloter BTH 7 dispatched 488 people, consisting of 482 pilgrims, two PHD, and four kloter staff. One pilgrim from Indragiri Hilir was delayed in departure as they are receiving treatment in Batam.
Kloter BTH 8 dispatched 445 people, consisting of 439 pilgrims, two PHD, and four kloter staff. Three pilgrims from Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, and Kuantan Singingi along with three companions were delayed in departure as they are receiving treatment in Batam. Additionally, one pilgrim from Kuantan Singingi was reported to have passed away in their home area before departure.
“We continue to monitor the condition of the pilgrims, especially those delayed in departure. May all prospective pilgrims be granted health and smoothness in performing the Hajj pilgrimage,” he concluded.
