PT Santos Jaya Abadi, a business unit of Kapal Api Group, planted 2,500 mangrove seedlings in the coastal area of Semarang to commemorate World Environment Day 2026. The activity, held on 12 June 2026, was carried out together with the local Mangrove Farmers Group as a partner in implementing and managing the programme.

The planting of 2,500 mangrove seedlings is the initial stage of a coastal ecosystem rehabilitation programme that will be continued in phases at several other locations to provide broader benefits.

Deputy Managing Director of PT Santos Jaya Abadi, Vincent Mergonoto, said the programme is part of the company’s long-term commitment to supporting environmental conservation and sustainable development.

“Sustainability is not only part of our business strategy, but also a responsibility we bear towards future generations. Through this mangrove planting programme, Kapal Api Group via PT Santos Jaya Abadi wants to make a tangible contribution to preserving the coastal environment, increasing carbon absorption, and building sustainable collaboration with local communities,” said Vincent.

He hopes the initiative will provide long-term benefits for the environment while encouraging more parties to engage in nature conservation efforts.

According to Vincent, the Phase I Mangrove Planting Programme is also part of the company’s sustainability agenda and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 on Climate Action, SDG 14 on Life Below Water, and SDG 15 on Life on Land.

“Planting 2,500 mangroves is not only part of commemorating World Environment Day and World Mangrove Day, but also a concrete step in supporting the achievement of the SDGs. We believe that collaboration between the business sector and the community is key to creating a more sustainable future,” he said.

PT Santos Jaya Abadi stated that the programme does not stop at the planting process. The company will conduct regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure the successful growth rate of the planted mangroves.

This step is also part of the company’s efforts to measure and enhance its contribution to carbon absorption and reducing environmental impact in the future.

Through this programme, PT Santos Jaya Abadi hopes to provide long-term benefits for the environment, coastal communities, and future generations, while strengthening collaboration in realising sustainable environmental conservation.
