2,496 Passengers Depart from Tanjung Priok Bus Terminal
“Yesterday marked the peak of the return exodus at Tanjung Priok Bus Terminal, with 2,496 departing passengers,” said the Head of Tanjung Priok Bus Terminal, Sandi, in Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that a total of 147 buses departed on that day, and there were 159 buses that arrived carrying 641 passengers. To ensure the safety of transport, his team inspected seven transport buses, with only four declared roadworthy. Meanwhile, three buses were recommended for repair by the bus companies as they were deemed unfit for the road. He assured that bus ticket prices at the terminal remained normal and departure times followed the existing schedule. His team ensured that all Inter-City Inter-Provincial (AKAP) buses entering Tanjung Priok Terminal underwent inspections. In addition to vehicles, drivers transporting passengers during the 2026 Return Exodus had their health checked. The terminal management also prepared various supporting facilities. Sandi urged the public planning to return home to pay attention to safety aspects during their journey. “We hope that with inspections of vehicle conditions and facility readiness, the return exodus at Tanjung Priok Terminal can proceed safely, orderly, and comfortably for the public,” he said. Additionally, they opened a health post in collaboration with community health centres and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) as well as the Narcotics Sub-Directorate (Satres Narkoba) of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort. “This includes health checks and urine tests for drivers,” he said.
