Bekasi, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesian Police (Polri) have noted a significant number of vehicles returning to Jakarta. National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the accumulation of vehicles at the peak of the first wave of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return reached 2,040,000 vehicles entering Jakarta, comprising 1,958,838 vehicles by Tuesday (24/3/2026) evening and 82,000 vehicles by 12:00 WIB today. “Regarding the monitoring of the peak return flow, as of last night, there were approximately 1,958,838 vehicles entering Jakarta, and just now we checked again at 12:00 WIB today with 82,000 vehicles, bringing the total to approximately 2,040,000 vehicles that have entered Jakarta,” said Police Chief Listyo during a press conference at the Jasa Marga Toll Command Centre (JMTC) on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Listyo added that around 1.4 million vehicles remain en route to Jakarta and are predicted to congest the Trans-Java Toll Road during the second return wave peak on 28-29 March 2026. “There are still about 1.4 million vehicles yet to return to Jakarta; that is our homework to resolve during the peak return flow,” he explained. He noted that 24 March 2026 marked the first return peak, during which 256,338 vehicles were recorded heading back to Jakarta. This figure is an increase from last year’s Eid peak of 223,163 vehicles. “So last night was the highest return peak, with 256,338 vehicles, higher than last year’s 223,163 vehicles,” he said. “We hope that in the remaining time, as another return peak is predicted on 28 and 29 March 2026 from the remaining vehicles not yet back and possibly additional arrivals from the public heading to Jakarta, this is something we always urge the public to make the most of the available time,” he added.
