JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Defence has announced that 2,000 civil servants (aparatur sipil negara, ASN) will undergo training as reserve military components (Komcad) at five military training locations.

The first wave of training is planned at several education facilities, including the Defence Medical Training Centre (Pusdikkes), Air Force Tactical Squadron 301 (Skadik 301), Air Force Language Centre (Pusbahasa AU), Jaya Military Command (Kodam Jaya), and Marine Infantry Regiment 1 (Pasmar 1), according to Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of the Defence Ministry’s Information Bureau, on Thursday 26 February 2026.

Sirait stated that the civil servants will receive military training covering both practical skills and theoretical knowledge on military fundamentals.

The Defence Ministry has allocated a quota of 4,000 personnel for all ministries and agencies wishing to send their civil servants for Komcad training. The first training wave will involve 2,000 civil servants, with a second wave of equal size scheduled for mid-2026.

The ministry hopes that through this training, all participating civil servants will develop shared patriotic spirit and nationalism to better serve the community and nation.

Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin previously confirmed that 4,000 civil servants from ministries and agencies in Jakarta will become reserve military components. “In the first semester of 2026, we will begin training civil servants, focusing on approximately 4,000 personnel from Jakarta-based ministries,” Sjamsoeddin said on Monday 2 February 2026.

Civil servants aged 18 to 35 will participate in various basic military training programmes. Upon completion of the training course, they will be returned to their respective agencies to resume their official duties.
