193 Kramat Jati fish traders to be relocated to Lokbin starting this week
A total of 193 fish traders along Jalan Raya Bogor in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, will be relocated to the Kramat Jati lokasi binaan (Lokbin) as part of area restructuring efforts starting this week.
“The plan is for them to begin moving into Lokbin Kramat Jati this week, in line with the direction of East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin,” said Kramat Jati Sub-district Head Kamal Alatas in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
Kamal described the relocation as part of efforts to reorganise the area while also enforcing regional regulations on the use of public space.
“Because they are encroaching on road shoulders and there have been many complaints that have reached the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” Kamal said.
Kamal added that the relocation was not carried out through a bargaining process with the traders.
The government is seeking to carry out the restructuring while still taking into account the conditions and interests of the traders.
The fish traders have also expressed their willingness to occupy the new location that the government has prepared.
“Alhamdulillah, 100 percent are willing to be relocated to Lokbin Kramat Jati,” Kamal said.
According to Kamal, the government will use spaces that are still vacant in several parts of Lokbin, including the right porch, left porch and rear area.
The available space, he said, is still sufficient to support the placement of fish traders according to the data held by the government.
“For the capacity there, we are using the spaces that are still vacant on the right porch, left porch and at the back,” Kamal said.
The government is also continuing to communicate with trader coordinators to anticipate any obstacles during the relocation process.
Kamal said that so far there have been no significant obstacles because communication with the coordinators has been ongoing since the restructuring plan was prepared.
“For the time being, these obstacles continue to be communicated with the trader coordinators and as of today, the fish traders are ready to move to Lokbin Kramat Jati,” Kamal explained.
Previously, the East Jakarta City Government stressed that street vendors trading on road shoulders and pavements along Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramat Jati, would no longer be allowed to trade starting from 31 August.
“Starting from 31 August 2026, trading activities will no longer be permitted on the road shoulder or on the pavement of Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramat Jati,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The decision is a follow-up to the instruction of the Governor of DKI Jakarta to immediately reorganise the Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramat Jati area, including relocating street vendors who cause congestion and make the Kramat Jati area look unkempt.
According to Munjirin, the presence of trading activities on road shoulders and pavements is one of the problems that needs to be addressed immediately.
Based on the meeting discussions, there are around 621 spaces prepared to accommodate traders according to available data.
The placement of traders will be carried out through a mapping process based on the type of goods and the suitability of the location.
The traders will also be given alternative relocation options that have been prepared by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
