192 Students and Teachers at SMPN 1 Tulung, Klaten, Suspected of MBG Poisoning

Klaten – A total of 189 students and three teachers at SMPN 1 Tulung, Klaten, Central Java, are suspected of experiencing poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG). At least 11 people required treatment.

The Head of the Klaten Health Department (Dinkes), Anggit Budiarto, revealed that the students and teachers began showing symptoms of poisoning such as nausea, dizziness, and vomiting on Tuesday afternoon (28/4/2026) until approaching evening. Upon receiving the news, the Klaten Health Department immediately visited the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) Ayurveda Sorogaten Tulung.

Anggit stated that his side has not yet concluded whether the students and teachers at SMPN 1 Tulung experienced MBG poisoning. “But samples (of MBG) have already been taken,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

He added that the MBG menu served by SPPG Ayurveda Sorogaten on Tuesday consisted of rice, galantin, and timlo soup plus quail eggs. In addition to the menu, the Klaten Health Department also took samples of the water used in the raw material processing. According to Anggit, the samples are currently being tested in a laboratory.
