19 Elementary Students in Blora Allegedly Suffer Food Poisoning from Free Nutritious Meal Program

Nineteen pupils at SDN Sendangrejo in Ngawen District, Blora Regency, Central Java, are suspected of suffering food poisoning after eating the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu on Monday (20/7/2026). Several pupils there noticed a foul smell from the milk and eggs served.

Head of Criminal Investigation at Blora Police Resort, AKP Zaenul Arifin, said his team received a report of suspected MBG food poisoning at SDN Sendangrejo at around 09:00 Western Indonesian Time. He and his team immediately went to the school. Upon arrival, they gathered information from the headteacher and the teachers.

“From the teachers’ clarification, before the pupils felt nauseous, there were reports to the headteacher that the MBG food smelled bad, particularly the milk. Because the milk inside the MBG container had burst,” said Zaenul when interviewed on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

He revealed that the MBG menu at SDN Sendangrejo on Monday consisted of rice, eggs, stir-fried vegetables, grapes, and 115-millilitre UHT milk. “So the milk that was thought to smell and had burst has been sent to the Blora Regional Health Laboratory (Labkesda),” he said.
