19 Baby Trafficking Defendants Sentenced to 3-6 Years, Mastermind Gets 7 Years

The Bandung District Court panel of judges handed down prison sentences of 3 to 6 years to 19 defendants in a baby trafficking case to Singapore on Tuesday (21/7/2026). The mastermind of the baby trafficking operation received a heavier sentence of 7 years.

The defendants were proven to have engaged in the trafficking of babies to Singapore. The sentences were relatively lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor, who had sought prison terms of 5 to 10 years for each defendant.

Presiding Judge Gatot Ardian Agustriono stated that the defendants were found guilty of committing the crime of baby trafficking to Singapore. He noted that the defendants were guilty of recruitment, sheltering, sending, transferring, falsification, abuse of power, and providing payment or benefits.

The presiding judge read out the verdicts for each defendant in separate case files. Astri Fitrinika, who recruited babies from their biological parents, was sentenced to six years and seven months in prison.
