19 ABRI members go to trial Saturday
JAKARTA (JP): Nineteen military personnel suspected of involvement in the fatal shooting of four Trisakti University students will be brought before a military tribunal on June 6, an official said yesterday.
Head of the Jakarta Military Police, Col. Hendardji, told the media that defendants were being detained at Jakarta Military Police Headquarters in Guntur, South Jakarta, for further investigation.
"They are all being processed according to existing rules," he said, asking reporters stop bothering him.
"I'm tired... don't chase after me about this, please," he said, refusing to identify the names and units of the suspects.
A reliable source told The Jakarta Post yesterday that all the bullets used in the killings had a diameter of five millimeters.
Armed Forces (ABRI) spokesman Brig. Gen. A. Wahab Mokodongan said recently that the 19 included nine low-and middle-ranking officers, six noncommissioned officers and four privates. (edt/ivy)
