185 Padel Courts in Jakarta Lack Building Permits

The Jakarta Provincial Government has recorded that 185 padel courts operating in the capital do not have building permits (PBG).

The Head of the Jakarta Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Department, Vera Revina Sari, said that out of a total of 397 padel courts in Jakarta, 212 have obtained PBG.

“As of 23 February 2026, 212 padel courts have obtained PBG, and 185 do not,” Vera said when contacted on Wednesday (25 February).

Vera did not respond when asked for more details about the distribution of padel courts in Jakarta.

Previously, the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, ordered the demolition of padel courts that do not have PBG.

In total, there are 397 padel courts in Jakarta. He suspects that some of them do not have PBG.

“Buildings or padel courts that do not have PBG will have their operations halted, be demolished, and their business licenses revoked, because we suspect that some do not have them,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (24 February).

Pramono also prohibited the construction of new padel courts in residential zones. He said that the construction of new padel courts must be done in commercial zones.

“It has been decided that new permits for the construction of padel courts will not be allowed in residential zones. All new ones must be in commercial zones,” said Pramono.

Meanwhile, padel courts that already have PBG but are located in residential areas will have their operating hours limited to a maximum of 8 pm.

He asked the mayors and sub-district heads to negotiate with residents.

“Negotiate with residents and set a maximum time limit for the use of the padel courts, which should not be later than 8 pm. So, for all padel courts in residential areas, the maximum operating time, even if they have obtained PBG, is 8 pm,” he said.
