18,000 students disturbed

JAKARTA: At least 18,000 students of senior high schools and
vocational schools are currently studying at elementary school
buildings since their own school buildings are being renovated.

Head of the City High School and Higher Education Agency
Sukesti Martono admitted on Friday that the renovation of the 18
buildings which was started in the middle of last year, could be
completed late this year.

To speed up the renovation, Sukesti said the administration
allocated Rp 95 billion (US$11 million) from the revised budget
which was recently approved.

There are some 116 senior high school and 58 vocational school
buildings in the city. He did not remember how many more schools
needed to be renovated.-JP
