REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The defendant in the alleged corruption case regarding the procurement of Chromebooks in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s (Kemendikbudristek) education digitalisation programme, Nadiem Makarim, is preparing to attend a hearing at the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) is demanding that the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology receive a prison sentence of 18 years and a fine of Rp1 billion, with a subsidiary of 190 days’ imprisonment.

In the case concerning the alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM) within the Kemendikbudristek education digitalisation programme, Nadiem Makarim attended the prosecution hearing at the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026). The Public Prosecutor (JPU) is demanding an 18-year prison sentence for Nadiem Makarim, along with a fine of Rp1 billion with a subsidiary of 190 days’ imprisonment. Furthermore, Nadiem is also demanded to pay restitution of Rp809 billion and Rp4.8 trillion, totalling Rp5.6 trillion.
