Jakarta — The Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police arrested an 18-year-old teenager involved in trafficking controlled drugs at a mobile phone credit shop on Jalan Nangka, Kelurahan Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

“During a search operation, we arrested a suspect with initials MI (18) and recovered 454 pills of controlled drugs,” said Kompol Denny Simanjuntak, Head of Unit 2, Subdirectorate 3 of the Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Directorate, on Sunday.

Denny explained that the initial arrest was conducted on Wednesday, 11 March at approximately 9:00 p.m. at a mobile phone credit shop located on Jalan Nangka, Kelurahan Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

The case originated from public information regarding suspected trafficking of controlled drugs sold covertly under the guise of a mobile credit sales business. Following up on the report, the Operational Team of Unit 2, Subdirectorate 3 of the Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Directorate conducted an investigation and visited the location.

“Subsequently, we apprehended suspects ML (20) and B (30) in the Cimanggis Depok area. The evidence we secured consisted of controlled substances on Schedule G and psychotropic drugs totalling approximately 2,400 pills and money from sales,” Simanjuntak stated.

The case began with public information regarding the sale of controlled drugs disguised as food staple sales at a small shop. However, when police arrived, the shop was closed. The team then received further information that the distribution activity was being conducted at a rented house on Jalan Benda Kramat, Cisalak, Cimanggis. During a search operation, police seized 1,897 Schedule G controlled drug pills.

From this operation, police arrested three suspects and seized 2,351 pills of controlled drugs on Schedule G.

“The success of this case disclosure was also due to the collaboration and information provided by the community in supporting the Jaga Jakarta programme to create a conducive security and public order situation in the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metro Police,” Simanjuntak said.

The three suspects and evidence have been taken to the Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Directorate headquarters for further investigation.
