178,000 people predicted to flood Bandung city during Eid 2026 travel period
As of 2 March 2026, at least 178,070 passengers are predicted to pass through Bandung and Kiaracondong railway stations during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period, according to current ticket booking data.
Kuswardojo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, stated that this figure represents a combined total of 92,390 departing passengers and 85,680 arriving passengers using the Long-Distance Train Service (KAJJ).
“As of the 2 March 2026 update, 92,390 passengers are booked to depart and 85,680 passengers are expected to arrive at Bandung and Kiaracondong stations. This figure will continue to change as ticket sales proceed,” Kuswardojo said in Bandung on Monday.
He noted that the high number of arrivals demonstrates that Bandung serves not only as a departure point for homecoming travel but also remains an attractive holiday destination during the 2026 Eid break.
To accommodate the anticipated surge, KAI Bandung has optimised its facilities and infrastructure whilst increasing field personnel. Kuswardojo confirmed that all train sets have undergone intensive inspection to ensure safety standards.
“KAI Daop 2 Bandung is committed to providing the best service, ensuring that passenger journeys are safe, secure, comfortable, and on schedule,” he stated.
KAI has urged prospective passengers to plan their travel well in advance and arrive at stations early to avoid congestion in service areas. The public is also advised to purchase tickets exclusively through official channels to prevent fraud.
During the 22-day Eid travel period, KAI Bandung continues to maintain vigilance, conducting thorough technical inspections of trains to ensure they remain in optimal condition before operating to serve tens of thousands of passengers daily.
