171,000 long-distance train passengers arrive in Jakarta during school holiday period

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area (Daop) 1 Jakarta recorded 171,541 long-distance train passengers arriving in Jakarta during the first five days of the school holiday period, from 20 to 24 June 2026. “The average number of passengers arriving in the Daop 1 Jakarta area reached around 34,308 passengers per day,” said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that the arrival figures demonstrate the high level of public mobility during the school holiday season. In addition to arrivals, the volume of long-distance train departures from the Daop 1 Jakarta area during the same period was also high. On 20 June 2026, the number of departing passengers was 32,907; on 21 June, 34,023; on 22 June, 30,133; on 23 June, 28,364; and on 24 June, 26,629. Franoto explained that long-distance train services in the Daop 1 Jakarta area consist of 69 regular trains per day, comprising 35 trains from Gambir Station and 34 trains from Pasar Senen Station, throughout the school holiday period from 20 June to 5 July 2026. Additional services include two trips on the Gambir-Yogyakarta supplementary train, the Cirebon Fakultatif train on the Gambir-Cirebon route, and the Argo Anjasmoro train on the Gambir-Surabaya Pasarturi route. The total seating capacity provided for long-distance trains reached 629,649 seats, of which 363,585 tickets have been purchased or booked. Beyond long-distance services, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta also recorded local train services during the school holidays. For the Pangrango Local Train, the seating capacity provided was 58,880 seats, with total bookings of 38,375 tickets. Meanwhile, the Siliwangi Local Train had a capacity of 30,528 seats over the same period, with total ticket bookings reaching 6,734 and departing passenger numbers on 24 June 2026 amounting to 530 passengers.
