17 People Injured in Cimuning SPBE Fire, Some with 50% Burns
Police recorded 17 people injured in a fire at the Cimuning Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) in Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City. The victims are being treated at hospitals, with some experiencing burns up to 50 per cent.
“Our data shows 17 people being treated at hospitals; please update at the post,” said Bekasi City Metro Police Chief Kombes Kusum Wahyu Bintoro, quoted on Friday (3/4/2026).
Wahyu stated that the victims generally suffered burns of varying degrees.
“Some of the burn victims have more than 50 per cent burns,” he said.
Victims with burns over 50 per cent will be referred to other hospitals for more intensive treatment.
“They will be referred to other hospitals; that’s the plan. Arafiq, for example, has burns over 50 per cent,” he explained.
“Meanwhile, those with less severe burns can be admitted there. But this one is still in the emergency department,” he added.
Police also noted one toddler among the victims in the incident. Kusumo said the toddler is in good condition.
“There is a mother with a toddler. The toddler, thank God, was not burned or anything, but since the mother was there, the toddler came along,” he clarified.
Kusumo said his team is still investigating the fire further. The police’s main focus now is on recovering the injured victims.
“As we know from yesterday, we are focusing on the victims first, ensuring the safety and lives of the victims, and then we will proceed to other matters,” he stated.
As reported, the fire occurred on Wednesday (1/4) around 9:30 p.m. WIB. The flames were extinguished around 3:45 a.m. WIB on Thursday (2/4).
