17 Little-Known Features of TypingMagic 12
TypingMagic 12 is typing practice software for Windows PC designed to help users improve their typing speed, accuracy, and skills. The application provides various exercises, typing tests, games, performance statistics, and analysis features to identify specific keys or key combinations that remain difficult to type.
TypingMagic 12 offers a dark mode that can change the application’s appearance to a dark theme, enhancing comfort during long practice sessions. TypingMeter can monitor typing habits while users are using other Windows applications, subsequently providing customised exercises based on identified typing weaknesses.
This feature analyses pairs of keys typed in sequence to identify combinations that are slow or frequently incorrect. The results of this bigram analysis can be displayed as a heat map, making error patterns and typing speed easier to understand.
TypingMagic can create exercises focused on the specific key combinations that pose problems for the user. Users can re-practice specific keys deemed difficult based on previous practice results. The duration of practice sessions can adjust to the user’s progress; if typing proficiency is high, exercises can be completed faster, whereas specific weaknesses will receive additional training.
The latest version allows users to adjust the duration of typing tests according to their needs. Pro version users can set their own passing thresholds for net speed, gross speed, and accuracy.
Practice text can be imported from several formats, including RTF, DOC, HTML, and TXT, with Unicode/UTF-8 support. The course allows for typing practice using various keyboard layouts, not limited to QWERTY or English.
Special courses are available for beginners who wish to master lowercase letters before practising with the Shift key. TypingMagic 12 also allows users to import custom keyboard layouts in .KLC format.
New games have been introduced in TypingMagic 12 designed to train typing speed and accuracy through gameplay. A new puzzle game uses typing activities as part of a challenge with increasing difficulty levels.
Version 12 adds several layouts such as Hindi, Khmer, Thai, Vietnamese, and Colemak, in addition to other existing layouts. TypingMeter also includes a break reminder feature, encouraging users to take periodic breaks when using the computer for extended periods.
TypingMagic 12 is more than just a typing practice application; it also features performance analysis, personalised training, games, support for various keyboards, and typing habit monitoring.
