17,231 Commuters Depart from Gambir Station on Friday
Head of Gambir Major Station, Ganjar Mairizal, in Jakarta on Friday, stated that the trend for ticket purchases from Gambir Station in 2026 is selling out faster than on regular days, with purchases concentrated on favourite dates, namely H-3 to H-1, while alternative dates remain available. “Premium trains and executive class sell out the fastest,” Ganjar said. Therefore, to prepare for this year’s homecoming, they have added train travel capacity, improved facilities, digitised services, strengthened security, and continued cross-agency coordination. “The message for this year’s homecomers is to plan your trip well in advance, arrive early at the station, keep an eye on your belongings, obey the rules, and follow the instructions of the officers,” Ganjar said. He urged paying attention to schedules and travel information, especially for trains, maintaining cleanliness and health, prioritising family safety, and respecting fellow homecomers in line with the slogan “Mudik Nyaman Perjalanan Aman”. Gambir Station provides facilities such as a children’s play area, coworking space, and Free Health Check (CKG). Previously, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo said that out of the total capacity of 1,083,623 long-distance train seats provided during the Lebaran transport period, 743,786 tickets have been sold, with an average occupancy of 69 percent. KAI still provides 333,255 seats for departures until 1 April 2026, especially during the return flow period. “For departures after Lebaran, namely 23 March to 1 April 2026, seat availability is still plentiful, reaching more than 316,000 seats. We urge the public to plan their return trip early,” he said.
