1,633 billboards to be torn down
JAKARTA (JP): The City Administration will tear down 1,633
advertisement billboards, mostly because their licenses have
already expired, from June 23 to Aug. 8, an official said.
Wahab Rachmatsjah, head of the City Revenue Office, was quoted
by Antara Friday that billboards to be torn down would include
those with improper Indonesian language and others erected on
prohibited sites.
"Moreover, billboards which are already worn out affect the
beauty of the city. We will remove them," he said.
He said the demolition of old billboards was expected to
improve discipline among advertisement bureaus.
It would also help raise city revenue because locations could
be used by other companies, he said. (hhr)
