Will 160,000 Civil Servant Positions Be Opened? This is What the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Has to Say - Ist Jakarta, VIVA – The Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini, has indicated that the government will open approximately 160,000 positions for prospective civil servants (CPNS) in 2026. “Hopefully, hopefully,” said Rini at the Ministry of PANRB building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Rini hinted at the opening of CPNS positions for 2026 after stating that approximately 160,000 civil servants will retire in 2025. “We already have the data, around 160,000, that’s the figure,” she said. Furthermore, she stated that the Ministry of PANRB has submitted a budget request to the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, to support the implementation of the 2026 CPNS selection process. “We have already sent a letter to the Minister of Finance to calculate it as soon as possible,” she said. However, she admitted that she could not yet announce the exact date when the 2026 CPNS selection will begin. According to her, before announcing the implementation of the CPNS selection, the Ministry of PANRB needs to first request the number of positions, as well as the competencies of the CPNS required by ministries/agencies and local governments. “I can’t just make things up. I can’t invent what competencies the agencies need,” she said. (Ant)
