16 Points in South Tangerang Temporarily Flooded Up to 1 Metre, Now Beginning to Recede
“The situation is now conducive,” said South Tangerang BPBD Secretary Essa Nugraha on Tuesday (5/5/2026). According to Essa, the South Tangerang area was hit by rain on Monday (4/5) afternoon, resulting in flooding. There were 16 flood points, especially in vulnerable areas such as East Ciputat, Pondok Aren, and North Serpong. Water levels varied from 15 centimetres to 1 metre. Several areas with significant flooding included Rempoa, East Ciputat, and Jurangmangu in Pondok Aren, which were submerged up to 1 metre. In addition to flooding, a landslide occurred in Nerada Estate Housing, Cipayung Ward. “The landslide, approximately 10 metres high and 20 metres wide, impacted one resident’s house,” he said. Previously, based on photos and videos uploaded by the South Tangerang BPBD Instagram account, flooding occurred in Pondok Safari Indah Housing, West Jurangmangu Ward. BPBD personnel were on site to evacuate residents. “The South Tangerang City BPBD Task Force team carried out evacuations of flood-affected residents,” the BPBD South Tangerang account stated, as seen on Monday (4/5/2026). BPBD South Tangerang personnel were seen using life jackets and helmets while evacuating residents. Personnel pushed rubber boats carrying residents. There was no explanation regarding the flood height in that area. However, personnel made repeated trips using rubber boats to evacuate residents.
