The number of Iranian military officials killed in Israel-United States strikes continues to mount. The latest fatality is Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

According to Al Jazeera on Wednesday 18 March 2026, Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency reported that the country’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed Larijani’s death. Israel has claimed responsibility for killing Larijani in a targeted strike.

Earlier, on Tuesday 17 March, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz also claimed that Ali Larijani had been killed in the latest Israeli operation.

Larijani’s death adds to the growing list of Iranian military officials killed since the conflict erupted on 28 February 2026. At least 16 Iranian military officials have been killed, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Beyond Iran, Israel-US strikes have also killed Iranian allies, ranging from Lebanese targets to operations in Beirut. Daoud Ali Zadeh, commander of Iran’s Quds Force Corps in Lebanon, was killed in Tehran. Four members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were also killed in a drone strike on the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Raouché, Beirut.
