155 high-ranking officers promoted

JAKARTA (JP): One hundred and fifty-five high-ranking officers from the four military corps were promoted yesterday.

Dressed in their uniforms the military officials reported their new ranks to the Armed Forces Chief Gen. Feisal Tanjung at the Cilangkap headquarters, East Jakarta, yesterday morning.

The ceremony was part of last month's massive leadership reshuffle in the Army, Navy, Air Force and National Police, which affected 298 high-ranking officials.

Four two-star generals were promoted one rank higher to three- star. They were Armed Forces' Inspector General Vice Adm. Soeratmin, Deputy Navy Chief of Staff Vice Adm. Widodo A.S, Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshall Djatmiko S. and Deputy National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Luthfi Dahlan.

The rank promotion in the Army involved 31 brigadier-generals to major-generals. They included Chief of the Bukit Barisan Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. T. Rizal Nurdin, Chief of the Sriwijaya Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. Suadi Atma, Chief of the Brawijaya Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. Djadja Suparman, Chief of the Tanjung Pura Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. Muchdi P.R. and Chief of the Udayana Regional Military Command Maj. Gen. Syahrir M.S.

In the Navy, four commodores were elevated to rear admirals. Assistant for Security Affairs to the Navy Chief of Staff Rear Adm. Berty Ekel and Assistant for Intelligence Affairs to the Armed Forces Chief Rear Adm. Yuswadji were among those promoted.

In the Air Force, five commodores advanced to rear marshal positions. They included the Air Force Chief's Coordinator of Expert Staff Air Rear Marshal Priyo Utoyo, Governor of the Air Force Academy Air Rear Marshal Cheppy Hakim, Chief of the Air Force Staff and Command School Air Rear Marshal Tjutju Djuanda.

Twelve one-star police officers were promoted to two-star generals. They included Assistant to the Police Chief for Planning and Budgeting Maj. Gen. Adang Daradjatun, Assistant to the Police Chief for Security Affairs Maj. Gen. Marwan Paris, Assistant to the Police Chief for Intelligence Affairs Maj. Gen. I.G.N. Koes Sujudono and Chief of the Police's Corps of Detectives Maj. Gen. Nurfaizi.

The rank promotion also included colonels who became one-star generals. There were 43 Army colonels promoted to brigadier- generals, 15 Navy colonels to commodores, 19 Air Force colonels to commodores and 22 police colonels to brigadier-generals.

Included in the list were Deputy Chief of the Bukit Barisan Regional Military Command Brig. Gen. Djibut Hindartono, Deputy Chief of the Diponegoro Regional Military Command Brig. Gen. Bibit Waluyo, Armed Forces Spokesman Brig. Gen. A. Wahab Mokodongan and Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Trimada Dani. (imn)
