150 violations found in one week

SEMARANG: An official of the Central Java Election Supervisory Committee (Panwasda) revealed that Panwasda had discovered 150 poll violations in Central Java province in the first week of the campaign period.

Nur Hidayat Sardini, the chairman of Panwasda, said on Friday that the violations could be listed under 10 categories, including: violations of regulations on convoys, the misuse of government facilities, campaigns outside of the scheduled time frame, money politics and traffic violations.

Poll violations were mostly committed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), followed by Golkar Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

"Of all the 24 political parties, the Social Democratic Labor Party (PBSD) is the only one that has not broken the law on elections. But this makes sense, because this party never campaigns," said Ansori, another official of Semarang's Panwaslu. -- JP
