150 taxi drivers obtain loans

JAKARTA: One hundred and fifty taxi drivers of the Jakarta taxi drivers' cooperatives (Kosti Jaya) received Rp 150 billion in loans to buy their vehicles on Monday.

The loans were given out by Bank Bukopin president and director Sofyan Basyir.

He said that the drivers would be required to pay a 20 percent interest, just like the market interest.

Out of 3,700 Kosti members, 1,650 drivers have their own taxi.

Sofyan said that few banks were interested in providing credit to taxi drivers. --Antara
