150 Street Children and Scavengers to Tour State Palace for National Children's Day

The government will invite children requiring special protection to visit the State Palace as part of the 42nd National Children’s Day commemorations in 2026, according to the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi. “We will invite children who need special protection to come to the Palace. Hopefully, they can meet the President. And we will take these children on a tour of the Palace, so they can get an idea of what the Palace is like,” Minister Arifah Fauzi said during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday. She stated that around 150 children, including street children, children of scavengers, and other vulnerable groups, will participate in the activity scheduled for 30 July 2026. “Providing a fun learning and recreational experience as a space for children to gain new experiences and build self-confidence,” Arifah Fauzi said. The Riau Islands Province will host the peak of the National Children’s Day commemoration on 23 July. However, this year’s observance will be carried out in a decentralised manner to bring the celebration closer to children across all regions of Indonesia. Regional governments will hold their own National Children’s Day commemorations. “We encourage regional governments at the provincial, district, city, and even village levels to hold National Children’s Day commemorations. This is to make children happy and to bring all stakeholders closer together to pay special attention to our children,” said Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi.
