150 Hatchlings Released to Mark Handover of Boat to Turtle Conservation Community in Nipah
A total of 150 hatchlings were released into the sea at Nipah Beach, Malaka, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday. The release of the green and olive ridley turtle hatchlings marked the handover of a boat to the Turtle Conservation Community (TCC), a local turtle conservation group in Nipah. The boat, valued at IDR 100 million, was provided as part of the marine conservation Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of InJourney Airports, through PT Angkasa Pura I’s Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM). “We hope this programme can be utilised to protect the environment and the ecosystem around Malaka Village,” said Wahyudi, Regional CO II of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports). BIZAM General Manager Aidhil Philip Julian stated that the marine conservation efforts, including coral transplantation, aim to ensure the sustainability of turtle breeding. “We belong to the community in Nipah, which has a strong commitment to maintaining sustainability and the existence of the ecosystem, indirectly creating harmony in nature,” Aidhil said. TCC Chairman Fikri described the support equipment as extraordinary, noting it was something the group had never imagined receiving. “God willing, it will provide benefits not only for the group but also for the wider community,” he said.
