Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, has targeted the empowerment of more than 150,000 Beneficiary Families (KPM) this year. Gus Ipul said the budget for the empowerment programme amounts to Rp 500 billion.

“Yes, the increase is quite significant. If I’m not mistaken, more than Rp 500 billion is being directed towards empowerment. This year, our target is more than 150,000 beneficiary families who will be followed up with the empowerment programme,” said Gus Ipul at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Monday (13 July 2026).

Gus Ipul expressed hope that these 150,000-plus KPM would no longer receive social assistance (bansos) next year because they would already be self-sufficient. He said the empowerment programme to be provided to these KPM would depend on the results of assessments.

“We hope that next year they will no longer receive bansos, but instead develop businesses whose returns are greater than the social assistance they receive,” said Gus Ipul.

“It depends on the assessment results, but there are three things: first, their skills are improved; second, their access is strengthened; and third, their assets — asset strengthening. Asset strengthening, opening access, and improving skills,” he continued.

In addition, Gus Ipul said the distribution of social assistance for the third quarter is planned to take place on 20 July 2026. He said the list of assistance recipients would change according to the results of data updating.

“And at the very least, distribution will begin on the 20th. Certainly, some will continue to receive bansos, some will no longer receive it, and there will be new bansos recipients. This all depends on the results of the data update,” he said.

Gus Ipul noted that KPM who are on the negative list will no longer receive social assistance. These include online gambling perpetrators, as well as Civil Service Apparatus (ASN) and state-owned enterprise (BUMN) employees.

“This means those on the negative list will no longer receive assistance. For example, those involved in online gambling, ASN, BUMN, BUMN employees — we continue to consolidate this, removing all those on the negative list, and we keep doing this. Those who have moved up a class or been misclassified will also not receive assistance. As long as data from the regions keeps coming in, our data will become increasingly accurate,” he said.
