15 universities in tennis tourney

SEMARANG (JP): Tennis players from 15 Java-based universities will take part in the seventh Diponegoro University (Undip) School of Economics Dean Cup which starts on Monday.

The tournament will take place at the Undip and Bank BNI tennis courts.

"Fifteen universities have confirmed that they will send players. There will be men's singles, men's doubles as well as team events," organizer secretary Mudiantono told reporters on Sunday.

"Each university is allowed to send more than one team to the tournament. Undip, as the host, is fielding four teams with the aim to win the title," he added.

Mudiantoro, who is also Undip's coach, said the participants included Surabaya Institute of Technology, Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University, Bandung-based Padjadjaran University, Parahyangan University, and State Administration Academy, Semarang-based Soegiyapranata Catholic University and Semarang State University.

The Rp 15 million (US$1,500) tournament will stage team events prior to the individual events. (har)
