15 Internet Provider Poles Stand at One Point in Karangasem

The presence of numerous Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Karangasem Regency, Bali, has come under scrutiny as poles and internet network cables appear disorderly at several locations. In one spot, more than a dozen provider poles have been found standing close together.

This condition is visible at the Subagan four-way intersection, near the horse statue area. Based on observations, around 15 poles belonging to internet providers stand at a single point.

That figure does not include electricity poles owned by the state electricity company PLN. The large number of poles, combined with cables crossing and piling up, makes the area look untidy.

“There are so many poles, some of which are even tilted. The cables are also very messy,” said Marsan, a local resident met at the location on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

According to him, the condition disrupts the view. It is also feared that problems could arise if the number of poles and cables continues to grow without proper arrangement.

Meanwhile, Head of the Karangasem Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), Ida Nyoman Astawa, said there are currently 14 ISPs registered with the office. These providers operate to meet the internet needs of the public. However, Astawa did not rule out the possibility that some ISPs remain unrecorded or have not yet registered.

“There may still be some that have not registered, especially recent ones. We will conduct data collection again so that all are registered,” said Astawa.

Astawa said his office has gathered the registered ISPs and reminded them to pay attention to the condition of the poles and network cables they have installed.

“We have warned the provider owners that if any cables or poles are damaged or dangerous, they should be repaired immediately so they do not become a public complaint,” Astawa said.

In addition to regulating providers already in operation, Diskominfo has also asked the Karangasem Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) to pay attention to locations for new pole installations. This is intended to prevent provider poles from being concentrated in one spot and making the area increasingly disorderly.

“We admit we have not been optimal, so it still looks messy at several points, but we will strive to continue making improvements so that cables and poles look tidier,” said Astawa.
