15 Indonesian Companies Suspected of Sponsoring Foreign Nationals at Hayam Wuruk Online Gambling Den

The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has discovered that 15 companies in Indonesia are indicated to have acted as sponsors for hundreds of foreign nationals in an international online gambling syndicate case based in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta. Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated that these companies are suspected of facilitating the entry of the foreign nationals into Indonesia. “From the investigation of the detained foreign nationals, we obtained information regarding the individuals who sponsored and guaranteed these foreign nationals’ entry into Indonesia, involving several companies,” Wira said during a press conference on Friday. He added that the 15 companies have been inventoried and are currently under further investigation, though he declined to disclose their detailed identities. Authorities are currently coordinating with the Directorate General of Immigration to trace the entry routes of the foreign nationals and the possible involvement of other parties in the network. Meanwhile, Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement, Yuldi Yusman, detailed the various types of visas used by the hundreds of foreign nationals to enter Indonesia. He explained that of the 322 individuals currently under examination, two used a Visa-Free Visit facility, 36 used a B1 Visa on Arrival, 10 used a C2 Business Visit visa, 120 used a C12 Pre-Investment visa, 149 used a D12 Multiple Entry Pre-Investment visa, three used a Bridging Visa to upgrade to a Limited Stay Permit, and two held an Investor Limited Stay Permit. Yuldi stated that his party is conducting further examinations regarding the visas used, including investigating the alleged misuse of residence permits. He also confirmed that the 15 companies indicated as sponsors will be summoned for questioning to determine the extent of their sponsorship of the foreign nationals who have been named as suspects and witnesses. Previously, Bareskrim named 287 foreign nationals as suspects in this case. Deputy Chief of Bareskrim, Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, said a total of 322 foreign nationals were arrested, with 35 others still under investigation. The suspects include 76 Chinese nationals, three Laotians, two Malaysians, 15 Myanmar nationals, six Thais, and 185 Vietnamese nationals. Police also revealed the involvement of four Indonesian citizens, identified by the initials MAP, BT, DFA, and DA, who have also been named as suspects.
