15 hurt in attacks in Philippines
COTABATO, Philippines (AFP): A bus and a jeep were ambushed
and a grenade was tossed into a house in separate attacks in the
southern Philippines which left 15 people wounded, police and
witnesses said yesterday.
Four men fired on the bus on a highway near the town of
Pagalungan early yesterday, wounding three passengers, said
Sharabe Namla, the bus inspector.
Five persons were injured late Monday when two men aboard a
boat tossed a grenade into the riverside home of a Moslem in the
town of Midsayap, said senior inspector Jose Marquez of the
Midsayap police.
In the third attack, a jeep was ambushed in the town of Datu
Odin Sinsuat on Sunday, wounding seven people, a police report
said.None of the attackers in the three cases were identified.
Areas of the southern Philippines remain unstable despite a
peace treaty signed last year between the national government and
the separatist Moro National Liberation Front.
