The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded that around 15 residential houses in Parigi Moutong Regency (Parimo), Central Sulawesi, sustained damage due to the impact of a magnitude 6.7 earthquake.
“This data is still preliminary, as the Rapid Response Team (TRC) is still conducting assessments,” said the Acting Head of BPBD Parigi Moutong, Moh Rivai, in Parigi on Tuesday.
The damaged houses are spread across four villages: four houses in Torue Village (South Parigi District) affecting four families; one house in Tolai Village affecting one family, including an elderly person; nine houses in Torue Village (Torue District) affecting 15 families or 36 individuals; and one house in Sausu Trans Village (Sausu District) affecting one family.
“There have been no reports of casualties or damage to public facilities from this event. We are continuously providing updated information to the community regarding post-earthquake handling,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of Anuntaloko Hospital, Irwan, stated that most patients have been moved back to inpatient wards after being briefly evacuated due to the tremors. Services in the Emergency Department (IGD) have also returned to indoor operations.
“Patients were initially evacuated outdoors, but we have now returned most of them to the treatment rooms. Nevertheless, we remain on alert, fearing potential aftershocks,” said Irwan.
Local hospital authorities have urged the public and patients to remain calm and avoid panic, noting that updates regarding the post-earthquake situation are being continuously provided by the Parigi Moutong Regency Government and relevant authorities.
“We are also currently inspecting the condition of the hospital buildings and other medical equipment. Further updates will be provided as they become available,” Irwan concluded.
