Pariaman (ANTARA) – Fifteen families in Pariaman City, West Sumatra affected by flooding and landslides caused by hydrometeorological disasters in November 2025 received assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) worth Rp83.7 million to ensure disaster victims’ basic needs are met during post-disaster recovery.

“Hopefully this assistance can be used well by the beneficiaries,” said Pariaman Mayor Yota Balad in Pariaman on Friday.

However, after field verification by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), only 15 families met the criteria to receive assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

“These are the families that met the requirements, after field verification and approval by the central government,” he said.

Yota made these remarks to explain the situation to residents who were disaster victims from the hydrometeorological disaster but were not registered as beneficiaries under the central government’s aid programme.

The central government continues to work to ensure disaster victims’ basic needs are met through such assistance, whilst the local government will continue coordinating with the central government so that the rehabilitation and recovery process can run optimally.

The assistance, which was symbolically handed over on Tuesday (10 March), was distributed by PT Pos Indonesia’s Pariaman branch as the distributor appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of Pariaman City Social Services Department Rozi Koemadi stated that each person in the 15 families receiving assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Life Assurance Programme received Rp15,000 daily assistance provided for three months or 90 days.

“Each family has different numbers of members, but the assistance amount is Rp15,000 per day per person,” he said.
